Is This the Right Tattoo For Me?
Picture this; it’s your 18th birthday and you’re finally a legal adult! What is the first thing you do? For some, it’s to get scratch offs, while for others, they head straight to the tattoo parlor. As soon as we are given the freedom to get piercings and tattoos we run to it, yet, we do not always consider the consequences of some of our adult decisions. In 2006, Northwestern University researchers took a poll of 500 people between the ages of 18 to 50. This study showed that 25% of people have tattoos they regret, while 17% have, or are thinking about getting their tattoo removed.
As children we say “ I cannot wait to grow up, live on my own, have my own house, and no rules!” Once we hit legal age, we are able to make our own decisions in life. All decisions come with consequences. We, at Stories of the Ink, advise you to think hard about your next tattoo or your first one. Tattoos are a form of self-expression, and a way to be unique. On the other hand, they’re permanent, can cause medical issues, and are very expensive. Before getting a tattoo, be sure of the perfect design or phrase you choose. Make sure the spelling is correct, and above all, make sure it is something the “future you” will value. If you can honestly tell yourself yes, then you’re ready for a tattoo. If you are hesitant, it may be a wise idea to hold off and wait until you discover the perfect image for the “present and future you”.
